Sharp Airlines has been operating an airline service from mainland Tasmania to King Island for the past twelve years. Over this time, we have developed and grown our services to meet the expectations of the King Island community, businesses, and corporate travellers, as well as the ever-increasing demand of tourists, golfers, and holidaymakers.
In a sign of confidence and support shown to us by the King Island community, Sharp Airlines has become the most significant carrier to the island.
We do not take the role we play in providing these vital services for granted, and have always strived to deliver excellence in customer service. On-time performance and safety are at the core of everything we do.
Sharp Airlines does not increase fares at peak times; instead, we are consistent, transparent and deliver services at the most economical fares and freight rates possible.
We also support the island within our Community Support Programme, recognising that in every community, formal and informal groups need support or sponsorship to assist with important causes.
We believe in the future and prosperity of King Island and its vibrant community. With future developments such as the King Island Scheelite mine, increases in infrastructure spending, and further growth and development in tourism, I am pleased to announce Sharp Airlines will be adding an additional 4000 seats in total per annum to and from mainland Tasmania. This is designed to cater for the expansion, and to further meet the needs of the travelling public.
These additional seats will be promulgated within our reservation system, effective July 1 this year.
Australian-owned Sharp Airlines operates 21 Metroliner aircraft, servicing five states, freight, and the FIFO market with bases in Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne (Essendon) and Perth.
Now in its 33rd year of operation, the airline carries over 100,000 passengers and 1.3 million kilograms of freight annually across Australia.
